The Romanian Embassy in Spain issued a note, in which it points out that last Friday, the 23rd, marked 142 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and that 2023 marks the tenth anniversary of the Strategic Partnership Agreement.

In the note, the Embassy affirms that the ties that unite Spain and Romania have been strengthened thanks to their common membership of European and Euro-Atlantic structures. “And we must continue on this path of consolidating the European spirit, solidarity and the promotion of democratic values, especially at this time when the EU is facing important challenges,” it adds.

The Embassy describes the relationship as privileged and says it is at a very dynamic moment, which has been strengthened by last year’s High Level Meeting between the governments of the two countries, which concluded with the adoption of a common declaration underlining that the two nations are allies and friends.

“This year we are also celebrating 10 years of Strategic Partnership and this is a further sign of the strength and importance of the relationship between Romania and Spain, and of their commitment to the European project. This relationship of friendship and cooperation has enabled important advances in key areas such as the economy, culture and politics,” the note indicates.

And concludes: “Continuing to identify solutions and good practices is essential to improve the standard of living of our citizens, because our countries built this magnificent relationship based on inter-human ties, a special contribution is that of the Romanian community in Spain, which is the link and the soul of this relationship that tops the list of countries with which Romania maintains a strategic partnership. We will join forces to make new achievements in the European family”.
